Male dogs do this to other dogs and try to do it to peoples legs, and I thought I heard that is also a domination trait. So your guess sounds pretty accurate.

I don't think they are trying to dominate me when they hump my leg, especially those little bitty poodles.

A friend of mine had three female rabits and the oldest one would "climb" the other two. Does anyone have an explanation for that?

I think I read once where two male flamingos at a zoo who go through "the motions" together actually adopted an orphaned baby flamingo as their own.
I don't know how many of you are breeding feeder rats, but I just started a little over a month ago, and I'm starting to wish some of the rats were homosexual. I was worried I wasn't going to have enough rats to feed my snakes. I was CLUELESS!
36 new rats in the last two weeks alone. All heteros in my collection (he boasted in a deep, macho voice). Now I just need to keep them from practicing incest!

Shoot, J, my bad, I totally forgot you were in the area! I'll send you a PM soon.
Yeah, bummer Noah's going out of business. Gonna miss that store. Did you make it over there on the last weekend?
I tried to buy Lang's rat rack from him,* but he said another breeder, a former policeman, already laid claim to it. He didn't have the guy's contact info or I might buy rats from him rather than breed them myself. Lang told me I should go to Perfect Pups or whatever that pet store over near the Food Dog is called (the shopping center with the used book store). So I went there, took one look at what the owner was doing to this poor ball python they had, and decided she wouldn't be my supplier for anything. I may check in with her again soon to see if the torture continues, and if it is, she's gonna get an earful.
I did manage to get 100 lbs. of rat lab block for $27 on closing weekend. Not too shabby. I walked away with a bunch of rats and mice, some tubs (for temp housing when on herping field trips), a few massive bags of aspen and pine, a fish net for catching tadpoles, and a $5 t-shirt to remember the store by (plus it's my "snake handling color," part of my experiment in conditioning). Someone beat me to the last two corns he had. He was promising big discounts for the weekend, and I think he let the pair plus all their housing go for $65. Not a gigantic discount, but not too bad considering it included the housing.
Oh yeah...got his greens too. Almost forgot about that. It was a few months ago, but they were part of the liquidation, too. I don't think that sits right with him. They were his pets, and he only brought them into the store to sell them because his new situation prevented him from keeping them. After I bought them, seems like every few times I walked in there the staff would say, "Oh, Lang said to give you this book," and he always asked about those snakes, checking for husbandry details. Never asked about anything else. Just the gtp's. And when I talked to him on that last day, he had this look on his face, and I knew he was thinking about the gtp's and how he could get them back.
Good store. Too bad.
* You know, the rat rack in the back, in the bathroom? We'd be in the store and one of my girls would say, "Daddy, I gotta go to the bathroom really bad." I'd say, "Sure Sweetie, let's go." Then she'd be there on the porcelain with about 50 rats within arm's reach, and all of a sudden she didn't have to go any more. Magic!

i was sad to hear that he was closing. i didnt even know until i made a trip out there to pick up some feeders and he was closed. i had been going to a store on hull st because it was closer to my house so i hadnt been to noahs in a month or longer. then i went by and he was inside with the doors locked, store empty sweeping and cleaning..
yeah i saw on the forums that you got the gtps. i saw them in the store a while back and considered buying them and then changed my mind. i bought my first snake which was a cron from noahs and then had been tempted to buy alot of snakes and entertained the idea of possibly breeding them. boy can that get out of hand fast if youre not careful. im sticking to my corn and my bp. dont think i'll be getting any more anytime soon. unless i happen to get a nice girl from ron.. hehe. i want one more bp but im trying to be patient.
