I feel that a ball python is harmless.I have owned several for at least ten years and never had a problem at all.I feel that certain pythons that get very big should be considered but a ball python should NOT be banned.

This is absolutely horrible. I have had my ball python for just a year. A single year and he just turned one this month. He is perfect, the nicest most gentle snake that I know, even compared to my corn snake HE is the sweety. I know quite a few other people with ball pythons and boas who love their snakes. Their HARMLESS snakes. Some breeders and snake owners go and ruin it for the rest of us whom really love their animals. I understand completely that the distribution with perhaps Burmese and Anacondas could be a problem, but to ban ALL boas and pythons?

That is completely idiotic. Especially Ball Pythons and such boas as the Sand Boa, because they can be adorably sweet and are in fact harmless. As Ron said in his comment, any house hold pet would probably kill the SNAKE rather than being harmed by it in anyway. They only get 3-4 feet long and they are not a straight line so if you look at them, they don't even SEEM 3-4 feet in length. I really hope this doesn't pass, because a lot of people who love their animals and take care of them properly would be devastated.

I actually purchased my Ball Python from Ron, a respectable breeder. There ARE good breeders out there as well as people who take care of their snakes and care for them properly. It's a real shame, as I said, that a few careless individuals are causing this whole problem to escalate. It's just horrible.

I was researching online trying to find a snake or ball python blog carnival when I somehow ran across your blog & this post & I freaked out! I've just recently gotten over my deathly fear of snakes. Less than 3 months ago I flipped out and had a panic attack if one was brought within 20ft of me. Then I met Rico, a handsome 7ft long granite Burm who turned all of my fears into nothing but love. And now for valentines day my boyfriend bought me my first snake, a pretty little female BP, who is as precious & sweet as can be! I named her Valentine!

I checked out the gov site & am going to comment asap. I also posted about this on my scribblescratch blog, in my myspace blog, in a myspace bulletin & am about to post it on my livejournal as well. This is so horrible. My boyfriend thinks that the snake industry contributes to much towards the economy for it to actually ever really pass but being a snake lover & owner since he was 13 he is also going to add his thoughts about it & write the Gov in defense of snakes everywhere! Not to mention that in the next few years him & I want to look into breeding Balls! :-)
